Chemotherapy, Community, and Critical Torah Insights: Parsha Eikev

Happy Saturday and Shabbat Shalom to all. Not that I need to burden you with my troubles, but it’s been a little bit of a rough week around here. I was on treatment (chemo) this week, so I wasn’t at my very best, so I was slow to get things written for this week’s Torah post on Thursday.

Friday morning I was feeling pretty well–I threw up this morning, so who knows?!–but Friday I was feeling well, and I recorded this video for TikTok, which ironically I didn’t post there, so who knows what I’m doing! But for this week’s Torah post, I share with you this 12 minute talk on my takeaways.

Adam’s D’var Torah on Parshat Eikev, approximately 12 minutes.

Feel free to read Parsha Eikev, Deuteronomy 7:12-11:25, before watching the video, or read after, with my thoughts in mind. Again, I’m no expert. Only a smart guy that reads a lot.

Key themes in my video include:

  • Personal Update
  • Torah Portion Discussion
  • Community and Self-Care
  • Reading the Torah
  • Divine Command Theory
  • Covenantal Relationships
  • Deuteronomy and Treaty Language
  • Modern Interpretation
  • Educational Approach

I’ve heard that text is out and video is in. Would you prefer more videos and/or audio for my weekly Torah and Gospel posts?
