Two ten minute videos sharing my perspective on John 9
Hello Notes readers! This past Sunday, March 19, 2023, I went in depth on John 9:1-41. I wanted to unpack some of that in video form, so I recorded two videos on TikTok and uploaded those as two-part videos on YouTube to be more accessible.
Two things to say as a set-up for these videos: First, TikTok’s algorithm is designed to suppress certain videos that do not adhere to “Community Guidelines” that includes key words or phrases, including: “jewish and “antisemitism.” This is safety concern that I appreciate! But the algorithm tends to suppress some of my content because I use these words often! For this reason, often you’ll hear coded language on these platforms, and you’ll notice that I’m trying to use these words in some instances be speaking around them or abbreviating those terms.
Second, given the live nature of video apps like these, it’s a little more difficult to apply the same level of careful wording and citations that I try to follow when writing. Plus, there is mild profanity—but more mild than in my everyday speech! And if you notice me tapping the screen that is to keep my phone awake during the recording. At any rate, if you enjoyed last Sunday’s post, or you’d like to hear me speak to this lectionary reading, you’ll enjoy these videos!
As always, all feedback welcome in the comments! Do you like the video format? Would you like to see more? Did these videos increase your understanding of my take on this lectionary reading?
With deep appreciation always! -a.
